Stop Procrastinating!

We’ve all been there at one point or another, whether it is exercising, a work project, calling your mother in law – we would do just about anything to avoid following through on a task. When doing the laundry and cleaning the house is a better option than following through on certain things – you know that change is in order.

People usually procrastinate for two reasons:

1) The task/action is not scheduled:

When you schedule an action treat it like a personal appointment for yourself. Would you make a doctor’s appointment would you just blow it off because you did not feel like going to it? Hopefully your answer is no J

2) The task/action is a non-strength:

This is when the action may not be the easiest thing to do. If this is the case then you need to determine when the best time to complete this when you have the most energy. Another thing to consider when you are procrastinating is; are you truly committed to this action? Get to the real reason and be totally honest with yourself as to why you are doing this.

If you are not totally committed to this action then are you going to do it – probably not? Determine if this is a priority for you and something that you want to do – if it is not then why are you wasting your time?

So if you are truly committed and determined to following through on something then the first step is to take action. You have to start somewhere to get momentum. It comes down to being committed and taking action. The question is what action will you take?
